The fort, which was located between Kabul and Kandahar was finally relieved on 26th May 1842 by General Nott. Only 50 or so Europeans and 900 native troops took part. Apart from 7 Staff Officers, the garrison consisted of 4/2 Bengal Artillery, 43rd Bengal NI and 3rd Shah Soojah's Infantry.
