KING’S OWN YORKSHIRE LIGHT INFANTRY 1857-1968
A pictorial history of he KOYL in the century from 1858 until its amalgamation with other units in 1968. The 226 images show the Regiment's service in both world wars and in campaigns and garrisons throughout the world.
A graphic illustrated history of one of the British Army's proudest and most famous infantry regiments across more than a century. The photos cover the KOYLI from 1857 until 1968 when the regiment was amalgamated with other units to become the 2nd Battalion, Light Infantry Brigade. In the century covered by the book, the KOYLI served in both world wars and in most parts of the British Empire and Commonwealth - including India, Burma, South Africa, Kenya and Brunei. Formerly the 1st Foot, the KOYLI was first raised in Leeds in 1755, winning its first battle honours at Minden in the Seven Years' War with France. The 226 photos in the book from the Regiment's own archive and cover all aspects of Regimental Life
